Terms of use

Short version: the apps and tools are free and open source, provided as they are. You bring your own media server and the right to play what's on it.

Who these terms are with

The ovmplayer apps (Google TV, Android TV, Roku), the menu server, the Jellyfin plugin, the developer tools and this website are made by Tyson Treasure. By using them you agree to these terms.

The software

  • The apps and tools are free. Their source code is published under the Apache License 2.0, and the specification under CC BY 4.0. Those licences govern what you may do with the code and the specification.
  • You may use the apps for your own personal viewing. There is no account with us, no subscription and no advertising.

Your media and your server

  • The apps play films, shows and menus from a Plex or Jellyfin server that you run or have been invited to. They supply no films or shows of their own.
  • You are responsible for the media on your server and for having the right to play it. Don't use the apps or tools to infringe anyone's copyright.
  • Your use of Plex, Jellyfin, Roku, Google and other services is also governed by their own terms.

The public demo server

demo.openvideomenu.org lets anyone try the apps with freely licensed example titles. It may be slow, changed or taken down at any time. Please don't try to break it, overload it, or use it for anything other than trying the apps.

No warranty

The apps, tools, demo server and website are provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. They may have bugs, and they may stop working with a media server, a device or a service that changes.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, Tyson Treasure is not liable for any damages arising from the use of, or inability to use, the apps, tools, demo server or website, including loss of data or interruption of service.

Names

"Open Video Menu" and "ovmplayer" name this project. Plex, Jellyfin, Roku, Google TV and Android TV are trademarks of their owners; this project isn't affiliated with or endorsed by them.

Changes

If these terms change, the new version will be posted here with its effective date. Using the apps after that means you accept the new terms.
